A Bad Blow Job

Hurricane Beryl caused extensive damage in Houston, though the center of its eye hit Matagorda, which is a little over 200 miles from here. It wasn't Ike, which hit in 2008. Hurricane Ike was a Category 2, and it left me and my family without power for 10 days.

With Beryl, I was without electricity for 2 1/2 days. It also kept my wife from flying home on that day. She came back the next morning to our damaged house. Part of the roof blew off. The same thing happened to our next-door-neighbor (same builder).

We had already scheduled a roofer to visit us regarding another issue, and they showed up to our appointment on Thursday. The work was finished today, and we will soon have the painter come and fix all of the spots that leaked.

The weather and fires are part of life, and I am glad to have gotten off pretty lightly here. I am wishing everyone who still has no power to get their electricity quickly. I am also glad that not that many people perished in Houston. More than a dozen did die from the storm in the Houston area.
