Cannabis Stocks Are Beaten Up - Which One Should You Buy?
I do most of my writing about cannabis stocks at Seeking Alpha, either at my service, 420 Investor, which costs $719 per year and, thus, isn't for everyone (there is a lesser version that costs less too), on Seeking Alpha itself, which limits free viewers, or on my blog, which is open to the world free of charge. Sometimes, I write about cannabis stocks here. My last article here was just over a week ago on Organigram (OGI), which was then $1.51 and now $1.54. It has been a good thing to talk about here and even better for my subscribers who have followed my buy and sell alerts in the model portfolio.
Today, I want to go over quickly my entire Focus List of 23 stocks. I think the cannabis sector is very attractive, as I have conveyed, and I don't always like cannabis stocks. This is something that I think my 420 Investor subscribers like about me. When they aren't attractive, I say so!
Here is the entire list alphabetically by ticker with a short summary of my view:
Ascend Wellness (AAWH) - extremely cheap and my largest position in my model portfolio currently.
Ayr Wellness (AYRWF) - cheap, but risky due to debt. I have no position in my model portfolio.
Cannabist (CBSTF) - extremely cheap, not in Florida, scary and a large position in my my model portfolio.
Canopy Growth (CGC) - avoid! Will likely make a new all-time low.
Cresco Labs (CRLBF) - like it here and added to it today in my model portfolio near its all-time low.
Cronos Group (CRON) - cheap, but not the best of the Canadian LPs. I have no position in my model portfolio currently but did own some briefly, exiting with a small profit.
Curaleaf (CURLF) - have hated the stock and am now neutral.
GrowGeneration (GRWG) - own it in my model portfolio. It's the only ancillary name I include currently.
Green Thumb Industries (GTBIF) - very cheap but not relatively so. I could care near the recent low of $7.50.
Hydrofarm (HYFM) - cheap, but not in the index, not liquid and burdened with debt due in 2028. It faces potential delisting.
Innovative Industrial Properties (IIPR) - not so bad, but not so good (no position).
Lowell Farms (LOWLF) - I consider it a call option , as it could go bankrupt or it could soar to tangible book value.
WM Technology (MAPS) - very cheap, but way up from its lows for no good reason. No position currently.
Organigram (OGI) - Love it! It's a smaller but still massive position in my model portfolio.
Planet 13 (PLNH) - Love it too, but it's not as big. I did just recently boost its size, as the strong balance sheet seemingly limits downside.
Chicago Atlantic (REFI) - no position currently, though it seems cheap.
SHF Holdings (SHFS) - Owns Safe Harbor Banking and trades below tangible book value and very cheap to likely adjusted EBITDA in 2025 (no position though).
Scotts Miracle-Gro (SMG) - seems expensive to me and burdened with debt.
Trulieve (TCNNF) - Crushed and seemingly cheap, but Florida stinks.
Tilray Brands (TLRY) - I have been quite negative and feel less negative at this all-time low price, but it's more of an alcohol company than a cannabis company.
TerrAscend (TSNDF) - I was very negative on this one, but I like it now.
Village Farms (VFF) - very cheap, but I have been reducing on this recent rally. The stock faces potential delisting, but there are some very good things that could happen too.
Verano Holdings (VRNOF) - Equal in size in my model portfolio to Cresco Labs. I have gone from disliking it to really liking it a lot.

Very good article. I noticed you listed CBST as extremely cheap. Are you not worried about their debt?
