Party on April 20, 2000

Kim Elliott was excited about the party she was going to attend later. A junior at NYU, she had been invited by a guy she had dated a few times, Greg Almont, who was a senior and ready to graduate soon. They had met in her psychology class. The party, on April 20th, was a 4/20 party to celebrate marijuana. Everyone was going to buy some weed and then go to Joe Epstein's apartment.

Almont had called her the night before and had told her that he would pick her up at her apartment at 7:30. They were going to get their stuff before the party in Washington Square and then go to Epstein's place, which was nearby. Epstein had graduated from NYU a couple of years ago, and he and Almont were friendly. Epstein, who grew up in Chicago, liked New York City so much that he stayed after graduating. Almont, who grew up in Baltimore, was not staying, as he had lined up a job in Washington, D.C. with the federal government.

Kim, who grew up in Atlanta, started to get ready at 6:30, putting on a short skirt consistent with the warmer weather. She wore a black long-sleeved top that showed her figure well and went well with her yellow skirt. She was ready at 7:00, and Greg got there at 7:20. She invited him to her room and poured him some wine. After they finished their wine, they headed to the park.

When they got to Washington Square Park, Greg bought a couple of joints from the guy he usually bought from, and they headed to Joe Epstein's apartment, which was on Jones, as short street between W. 4th and Bleecker. The building was built in 1975 and had six floors, and Joe had a one-bedroom. Joe must have really liked NYU, as his apartment kept him very close by.

Kim had never smoked any marijuana when she was in Atlanta, but she tried it every now and then during college. She didn't like that it was illegal, as she is not a rules-breaker, but she didn't understand why it was still illegal and was willing to break the law. Greg was a big fan and used it frequently. He had started when he was in high school. The party was already pretty crowded, and most of the people were smoking it when Kim and Greg walked in. Joe had some alcohol sitting out, but no one was drinking anything yet. The guests were eating some of the food, and Kim was kind of hungry. She and Greg walked up and grabbed a few of the Vietnamese summer rolls.

After they ate a bit, Greg asked Kim, "Are you ready to light up?" Kim was very ready, and they shared the first joint. Suddenly, the food looked even more interesting, and they grabbed some mini-burgers. Kim introduced herself to some of the guests, many of whom were NYU students and some of whom were friends of Joe's. Feeling a little high from the first joint, Kim was enjoying speaking to new folks, but she was also enjoying Greg's arm around her.

Kim said, "Let's have that second one now," and Greg whipped it out and lit it. She had consumed about 1/3 of the first one, but she had a little more than half of this one. Greg said afterwards, "I am going to buy one more. I will be back in a few minutes." While he was away, Kim, feeling hungry still, grabbed some more food, eating some chips dipped in guacamole. Her hunger for food, was exceeded by her hunger for Greg.

When Greg got back, it was a little after 9. He had bought two more joints, and they smoked one of them, their third that night. They both really were having a nice time, and Kim wanted to ramp it up a bit, saying to Greg, "This party is great, but I have something else in mind." So did Greg! He said, "Let's say thanks to Joe, and we can take off." They left just before 10.

The After-Party

Kim liked Greg, but she knew he was leaving for a new city soon. She found him quite attractive, and they had fooled around a bit previously, but they had not gone all the way. She was feeling quite horny tonight, though, so she was willing to maybe do more than she had done with him previously. They headed to his apartment, which was a three-bedroom place close by.

When they got there, neither of his roommates was there. Kim had met them the only other time she had visited Greg's place. She was ready to fool around, and she hugged him, making sure he felt her ample breasts. Greg, very turned on and wanting more, led Kim to his room, shutting the door in case his roommates came home.

Kim started to kiss Greg, and he was rubbing his hands under her shirt. Kim had had a good time with Greg before, and she was ready to go all the way with him tonight. He seemed ready to go much further too, undoing her bra, taking off her shirt and then sucking on her nipples. She undid his shirt and helped him to take it off and then they started kissing again, still standing up. She reached down to undo his jeans and got down on her knees, pulling them down and then his underwear. She had already shown him before how well she could use her mouth, and she tried that again. He was really liking the action, and perhaps it didn't really bother her because because she was high. Not that it ever really bothered her so much, but she liked being on the receiving end more than giving end.

Greg came quickly, and he pushed Kim to the bed, removing her skirt and panties and returning the favor. Yes, it was really good to be on the receiving end! He used his fingers too, and Kim climaxed rather quickly too. Kim had never had intercourse before college, and she didn't have it that often here, but she was ready to try it with Greg. "Honey, we have never gone all the way, but I would really like to feel you inside of me," she said to him. Greg turned his head and grabbed for the drawer next to the bed, and Kim, looking at his excitement in his crotch, did not need him to tell her his plans.

After he put the condom on, he laid on his back. Kim climbed on top of him and guided him into her, enjoying the penetration and riding him. She had another orgasm before he did a few minutes later. Greg took off his condom, put on his robe and went to the kitchen, bringing back a pint of ice cream for them to enjoy. After they finished it, Kim said, "I am not so hungry for more food any longer, but I am hungry for more Greg." He put on another condom and climbed on top of Kim in the bed.

When they were finished with their fun, it was already midnight, and Greg suggested that she sleep over. Kim decided that she would, but she left early on the next day after saying to Greg, "Thanks so much for having me to that party. The whole night was like a dream." Greg smiled and said, "You were fantastic, Kim. I really enjoy being with you."

A Month Later

Classes were ending very soon, and finals were coming up. Kim didn't go out again with Greg, and she left before his graduation. She did send him a text saying goodbye and wishing him luck in Washington, D.C.

For the summer, Kim was working in Atlanta, staying with her family. After waiting a week after missing her period, Kim bought a pregnancy test and used it as soon as she got home. The test suggested that she was pregnant, and Kim started freaking out. She had had intercourse only that one time, and Greg was wearing a condom. She went online and found that condoms are effective only 87% of the time, perhaps better if it is done right. She needed to talk to her mother!

"Mom, I have a problem, and I am not sure what to do," she said. Her mother asked her what was wrong, and she told her about the missed period and the pregnancy test. Her mother asked, "I never ask you about your sex life, but have you had intercourse with anyone recently?" Kim told her about the two times on 4/20 with Greg, and her mother told her that usually if the man is wearing a condom, then pregnancy is avoided. Kim suggested that she go to her gynecologist, and she was able to make an appointment for later that week.

The doctor examined her and tested her, making the pregnancy official and giving her an expected due date of 1/5/01. Kim was crushed, as this would interfere with her senior year at NYU. This was actually the least of her concerns. The biggest challenge for her was going to be a decision she needed to make: Should she give the baby up for adoption or have an abortion? The Elliotts were Presbyterian, and abortion, while frowned upon, was not against the rules of that religion. She wanted to talk to Greg about it and to her parents before she made up her mind.

First, she talked to her parents, and they thought the abortion made the most sense. They said that they would pay for it and that they would take care of her during her recovery. She called Greg, who was in Baltimore, and he was shocked. "Wow," he said. "We used a condom! How did that happen?" Kim explained that the condoms don't always work, especially if it rips. Greg asked her if she was sure if he was the father, and Kim said, "Greg, the last time I had sex before then was in February." He asked, "So, what are you thinking of doing?" Kim said that she might have an abortion or she would give it up for adoption.

"So, you aren't going to keep this child," said Greg. "If you decide to have an abortion, I am okay with that and can pay for it." Kim said, "I appreciate that, Greg, but I am leaning towards giving it up for adoption. I need to research it more. Are you okay with that?" He said yes, but added, "It will be kind of weird for both of us to have a descendant out there." Kim agreed and thanked him for his understanding and his willingness to get involved.

Hello, Goodbye

Kim did some research on places nearby to have the baby that would also place it with a family, and she liked a few of them. She realized that she was going to have to take off a year from college, and she talked to NYU and was able to arrange a deferral. She talked about it with her parents, who were on board, and then she let Greg know.

After doing her research, she opted to give the baby to Georgia Adoption Specialists, about 10 miles from downtown Atlanta and from the Atlanta Airport too. It was about 20 miles from her house in Buckhead. She decided to go for an open adoption, where she would pick the parents. She worked at her summer job until late August, and then she stayed with her family until the end of September, when she started going to the adoption agency.

It was kind of odd to be pregnant, but Kim had no issues with it. Greg did check in on her a few times too, which was nice. Her parents were very supportive of her decision to give it up for adoption. She had picked a family that lives in Athens, Georgia, home of the University of Georgia and about 75 miles from Atlanta. It helped the parents that Kim was a big fan of the B-52s and R.E.M. There was a lot more to it, though!

While Kim did not plan to ever see this child again, she knew that she might. She wanted the child, which she had learned was female, to have good parents. She had no desire at all to keep the child and was glad that there were very qualified potential parents that wanted the baby. In late December, her water broke and she delivered the baby on 12/28. The Jones family was there when the baby was delivered and named her Kim in honor of her mother.

Kim had no regrets at all, and she was happy to give her daughter to the Jones family. She left the hospital the next day, returning to her parents' house. She did take a picture and sent it to Greg, telling him his biological child's name.

Hello Again!

After delivering Kim Jones, Kim did some traveling in early 2001. She went back to NYU for her senior year in August, and, of course, all hell broke out in NYC on September 11th. She ended up graduating in May 2002 and got a job in San Francisco.

She did communicate with the parents of Kim Jones every now and then, always available by email or phone but never reaching out. They were a bit older than Kim and had not been able to have children due to some issues with Mrs. Jones. Kim had learned in 2005 that they had adopted another child, this one a boy, but they never told her too much about Kim Jones. Perhaps they were being cautious. When their daughter turned 8 in late 2008, they reached out to tell her that their daughter was well aware that she was adopted and seemed to be very comfortable with it.

Kim ended up getting married in 2009 to a man in San Francisco. When their relationship became exclusive in 2007, she had shared the nightmare of 2000 story with him, and he was fine. He was a big Friends fan and remembered the story of Ross getting Rachel pregnant while wearing a condom. Kim had not seen that show, which came out after her biological daughter was born. Kim and her husband, Scott Sanders, loved San Francisco and bought a house in Mill Valley, to the North of the Golden Gate Bridge but not too far from the city, in 2012, ahead of having their own children. Kim and Scott's first child, a boy they named Steve, was born in 2014, and their daughter, Sarah, was born in 2017.

Near the end of 2018, Kim got an email from Kim Jones. It said that she was looking at colleges and was coming to see Stanford in December. She really wanted to meet her biological mother. Kim was excited but a big concerned, and she asked her how she found her email address. Kim Jones responded that when she turned 18, she would be an adult and could get her name legally. She talked to her parents, and they told her about her biological mother and gave her the email address.

Kim extended an invitation to Kim Jones, telling her that she (and her parents, if they were coming too), could stay in their house and meet her two kids. Kim Jones thought that would be really neat, and said that she would talk to her parents about it. A few days later, she let Kim know that they would be staying in the San Francisco area for a few days and that her parents were going to stay in Sausalito and that she would stay with the Sanders for one night. Kim Jones was excited that her biological mother would meet her brother, and that she would get to meet her half-siblings too.

The Jones family got into San Francisco on December 18th and they checked into a hotel in Mill Valley. The next day, Sunday, they all came over. What a fantastic time it was to see Kim Jones 18 years later! Her biological daughter enjoyed seeing her half-siblings, Steve and Sarah. The Sanders left Kim for the evening, and Kim enjoyed catching up with her biological daughter. She had really enjoyed seeing her parents again too.

Kim was able to learn that Kim Jones handled her being adopted very well. Kim Jones asked her biological mother about her father, and Kim told her only good things. She had never been told what had happened, and Kim explained the condom issue. She asked, "Do you ever talk to my father anymore?" Kim said, "I really liked Greg a lot, but I was young. He was a good guy, and I have checked in with him but not that frequently. He loved Washington, D.C., but he ended up moving back to New York City."

Kim learned as well that the Jones family was a good family, and she was very happy to hear about what good parents her biological daughter had. Kim Jones ended up going to Stanford, and she and her biological mother got to know each other better. After she graduated in 2023, she moved to New York City! There, she met Greg Almont.

So, what started out as a great dream of a night that turned into a nightmare was back to being a great dream again. Kim missed a year of college that she was able to do the next year, and she ended up doing well in life. Her biological daughter did too.
