Understanding and Overcoming Mold

I have known Ed Kampf for decades. I reached out to him last week after getting a visit from an air conditioning repair person that had alarmed me, because I knew that he knows about mold. The repair person had told me that we may have a problem with our air conditioning system and was recommending installation of a product to combat mold growth with UV light.
Ed came to our home a week ago and tested to see if we had high levels of mold within the house, and we didn't. He left me his book as well:
From Mold to Sold is not Ed's first book, as he wrote Your Home is Making You Sick in 2020 too. Ed worked in real estate for a long time as a mortgage broker and knows the industry well. He currently runs Hygienitech Solutions, which he started in 2014.
I think that Ed is doing wonderful work with his company. There is a lot of concern about how air quality in the home can negatively impact health and wellness, and this is very true. Unfortunately, this concern has been hyped, and many people who really don't have a problem are urged to spend a lot of money unnecessarily. This book discusses this overhyping.
Published in 2025, From Mold to Sold has 114 pages filled with information. It's very easy to read, as it is broken into short chapters (22 of them). The book shares a lot of facts (and myths) about mold, gives a good history of the problems in homes and points to some potential scams. Ed shares some tips for readers that will help them approach potential mold problems in their homes smartly. Indeed, a mold contamination in a home can be a horrible thing, but often it is not.
Kudos to Ed on the work that he does, and readers will benefit from this book in terms of caring for their current homes as well as learning things that they can use when buying homes in the future.
